The popular resale platform has updated its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes without notifying all shoppers about the modification. Digital Channels Reaction Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online claiming that product pages now present a modified sizing category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification. Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms. They have suggested members to review their products and update the measurements by hand if necessary, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The revised method features an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. For certain items, the measurements have been reclassified - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18. Member Experiences One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as measurements 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained. Manual Updates Another shopper, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the sizes on "every single listing". "For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated. Service Background The app has more than 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
