The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop as a Deeply Strategic TTRPG

The gritty universe from Tom Clancy’s The Division will be translated into a tabletop role-playing experience. A partnership was established to create a tabletop RPG set within the franchise’s apocalyptic setting. The project has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to begin in April of 2026.

"This project aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and iconic world-building to the tabletop, providing fans a new way to engage with The Division through deep narrative and mission-based gameplay," reads an official release.

Initial offerings are set to feature a beginner's box, core rulebooks, a Game Master screen, figurines, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Dystopian World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen known as Green Poison was released in New York City, plunging the nation into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, civil order breaks down and violent factions emerge, transforming the city into a warzone. To preserve law and order, the government {activate|deploy] The Division, a covert network of undercover operatives. That’s where the players come in.

Work on the RPG has been underway for approximately several years, and it is confirmed to be complete. The upcoming Kickstarter campaign will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to reach a wider audience, specifically in North America. Production will start right after the campaign, with shipping expected for later in 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system confirms it uses d10s exclusively through its new GRIS system, encouraging a fast-paced and strategic style. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll a handful of dice, typically from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of summing the total, participants select a single “result die” from the pool.
  • This dice is then compared against a target difficulty.
  • Rolling a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or boosted support.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Fights stress placement and situational awareness, mirroring the source material. Factors like taking cover, height advantage, or visibility directly influence success chances. This system seems built to favor coordination and clever tactics over simple statistics.

A Novel Wound Mechanic

The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling narrative layer. Agents have a wound threshold; sustaining too much damage reduces their effectiveness by lowering the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an operative collapses, but is not unconscious.
  2. They can still move and perform restricted acts, emulating the last stand common to many shooter games.
  3. Any agent in this state must consult a injury chart, risking lingering conditions like trauma or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide will be released in the near future. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a lost doctor squad and must thwart an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that NYC neighborhood. Further information and the complete product lineup will be unveiled near the campaign launch.
